In Peru

In autumn 2008 Hazz Rudge went on an Oak Hall mission taster trip to see the work of Scripture Union Peru among the abandoned street boys. It made a deep impression on her, and the reports she brought back made us want to continue to support these projects.
The reality of the situation was hard to absorb. You can read some of their harrowing yet challenging and uplifting stories in the book “Southern Cross” written by Paul Clark who has long experience of the work. (There’s a copy to borrow at the Chapel).

We are conscious of the need to serve our community and not just be a group of Christians that meet together in Chapel and each other’s homes. How do we define community? Each of us has acquaintances, near neighbours, people we work with, friends and family. Those connections define our community and give shape to our ministry. Matthew 28:18-20
