About

Ballingham Chapel is a relatively small country chapel situated in the village of Ballingham close to the River Wye in Herefordshire, midway between the towns of Ross on Wye and Hereford. Ballingham is a small village with less than 100 inhabitants in the village and immediately around. We have no denominational affiliation, we are independent and we are evangelical.
Founded at the beginning of the 1900s with the first building constructed in 1904, our centenary passed a few years ago. Throughout most of the last 50 years, the membership of the Chapel has comprised more younger people than old. We like to think that we have a youthful outlook, and retain the adaptability to change that comes with such an outlook.
We are conscious of the need to serve our community and not just be a group of Christians that meet together in Chapel and each other’s homes. How do we define community? Each of us has acquaintances, near neighbours, people we work with, friends and family. Those connections define our community and give shape to our ministry.

“You might ask why Ballingham has prospered when so many country chapels around have closed. It’s never been about it having a large crowd of folks, but because it’s had people who trusted God. And He’s been faithful, and He’s been at work. Through the years there were people here who knew God, who trusted God, who took risks for God. And God worked.”
Charles Price Senior Pastor of The Peoples Church in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and former resident of Herefordshire speaking at the Centenary of Ballingham Chapel on Saturday 22 May 2004.
